Video documentation of exhibition and performance at Kelly’s Garden, Salamanca Arts Centre Filmed by JRS Videography and edited by Tess Campbell
Gestures of Care is an ongoing research project of dance artist Sofie Burgoyne and film maker Tess Campbell. The project forms a living archive of Tasmanian women’s stories and aims to highlight contemporary female labour, including the continuation and perpetuation of the disproportionate effort of the female worker in the industries of care. Through documentary film, live performance and participatory performative practices, the research peers into the choreographic structures, bodily gestures and embodied intuition that emerges from, contains, and imprints women’s bodies, whilst they perform their everyday work in the industries of care.
